The First Nations' claims : reality and literature

Abstract:

The thesis « Les revendications des Premières Nations: réalité et littérature » addresses requirements and claims of indigenous Indian citizens of Canada from the legal and literary perspective. The main aim of the legal part is to examine and describe demands of the indigenous citizens with respect to a land and ownership of the land. We have also examined the question of breaches of historical declarations, which arise from intercultural and social differences between the indigenous Indian tribes and the majority community in Canada. In the literary part, we have analyzed how a belonging to the land and a battle for the land is displayed in the novels of Robert Lalonde and Bernard Assiniwi.

Abstract:

Závěrečná bakalářská práce s názvem « Les revendications des Premières Nations: réalité et littérature » pojednává o požadavcích a nárocích původních indiánských obyvatel v Kanadě z právního a z literárního hlediska. Hlavním cílem v právní části bylo prozkoumat a popsat práva a požadavky původního obyvatelstva ve vztahu k půdě a vlastnictví půdy. Také jsme se zabývali otázkou nedodržování historických úmluv, které vyplývají z kulturních a sociálních rozdílů mezi původními indiánskými kmeny a majoritní společností v Kanadě. V literární části jsme analyzovali jak se projevuje sounáležitost k půdě a boj o půdu v románech Roberta Lalonde a Bernarda Assiniwi.
