A Simple Experiment in Science Education

Abstract:

Disertační práce je zaměřena na specifickou přírodovědnou výukovou metodu, kterou je experimentování, a to ve výuce fyziky na základní škole. V rámci realizovaného výzkumu byla provedena tři výzkumná šetření zaměřující se na tuto oblast přírodovědného vzdělávání. V rámci prvního výzkumného šetření byly analyzovány videozáznamy hodin výuky fyziky metodou videostudie. Z výsledků je patrné, že nejvíce jsou z hlediska četnosti ve výuce fyziky zastoupeny jednoduché kvalitativní experimenty demonstrované učiteli. Z hlediska časového zastoupení jsou to jednoduché kvantitativní experimenty realizované žáky ve skupinách. Z hlediska fází průběhu experimentování je ve výuce nejvíce zastoupena fáze realizace experimentu. Výzkumná zjištění jsou porovnávána pro dva tematické celky skládání sil a elektrický obvod. Druhé výzkumné šetření bylo realizováno metodou polostrukturovaného interview, která byla pořízena s učiteli fyziky, účastnících se videostudie. Z výsledků vyplývá, že učitelé spojují předvádění experimentů nejčastěji s těmito cíly: kvalitativní nebo kvantitativní ověření teoretických výpovědí, prezentování jevu a ukázat fungování fyziky v technice a v běžném životě. Třetí výzkumné šetření bylo realizováno prostřednictvím metody kvalitativní obsahové analýzy textu učebnic fyziky, které učitelé v prvním šetření použili ve své výuce. V případě obou tematických celků skládání sil a elektrický obvod bylo experimentování zařazeno ve fázích aplikační, fixační a expoziční. Z výsledků výzkumu je zřejmé, že provádění experimentů má nezastupitelnou roli ve výuce přírodovědných předmětů. Zjištěnou skutečností je, že stále převládá transmisivní způsob přírodovědné výuky, kdy se inovační prvky konstruktivistické výuky prosazují do reálné praxe přírodovědného experimentování jen velmi pomalu a obtížně. Je proto důležité podrobit tuto rozhodující přírodovědnou výukovou metodu dalším výzkumům a na základě výsledků našich šetření připravovat budoucí učitele přírodovědných předmětů směrem k žákovskému objevnému experimentování v souladu s našimi návrhy inovací.

Abstract:

This dissertation work is based on a specific educational method in science lessons which is experimenting in the Physics lessons at secondary schools. During realization of the research there were held three stages focusing on this educational method. In the first research stage there were analyzed video recordings form Physics lessons via a method of a video study. It can be seen from the results that easy qualitative experiments done by the teachers are widely used in the Physics lessons. From the time perspective there are used easy quantitative experiments done by pupils divided into groups. From different phases of the experiment the longest phase is the realization of the experiment. All the findings were connected to two topics of composing forces and electrical circuit. The second research stage was realized through a method of half structured interview which was done with the Physics teachers, participating on the experiment. The results show that the teachers connect demonstrating of the experiments with these aims: qualitative or quantitative verification of theoretical statements, presenting the phenomenon and to show the functioning of Physics in technique and in real life. The third research stage was realized throughout a method of qualitative analysing of texts in Physics textbooks which were used by the teachers in the lessons during the first research stage. During both topics of composing forces and electrical circuit the experimenting consisted of three phases: application, fixation and exposition. The results of the experiment show that doing experiments has a very irreplaceable role in the science education. Also observed facts depict that predominates transmissive mode of science education and innovative elements of constructivist teaching get very slowly into the real practice of science experimenting. It is very important to use this science educational method in more researches and the future results present to the future science teachers and prepare them to teach pupils via discovering through experiments according to our suggested innovations.
