Abstract:

Human trafficking continues to be a significant obstacle in modern society. Terrorist organizations such as Boko Haram and Al-Shabaab take advantage of susceptible communities in Sub-Saharan Africa by engaging in human trafficking, which exacerbates violence and instability. In response to these issues, the European Union (EU) has initiated multiple financial initiatives that aim to combat human trafficking within terrorist organizations. This thesis investigates the correlation between the distribution of EU development funds and recognized operational methods to combat human trafficking within terrorist organizations. The piece examines the alignment of European Union initiatives with the increasing circumstances surrounding terrorist-linked human trafficking by analyzing strategic objectives, operational methods, and geographic priorities. The study provides significant analysis on the alignment of EU funding with counter-trafficking measures, offering recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders to provide a comprehensive strategy to addressing these interconnected issues in Sub-Saharan Africa.
