Vincenc Hložník and "Slovak Sistine Chapel"

Abstract:

The main aim of the Bachelor thesis called Vincent Hložník and „Slovak Sistine Chapel“ is to introduce and describe a less known work of the important Slovak artist – the sacral decoration of the renovated church of St. Michael the Archangel in Dolný Hričov. The author´s personality, situation around the reconstruction of the parish and the church itself will be introduced in the introductory parts of the Bachelor thesis. In the next parts I will focus on the work itself, from its booking and realization up to its description. The purpose of this work is the description and iconographic classification of paintings, stained classes and mosaics, which make from this small church the Slovak unique.

Abstract:

Cieľom bakalárskej práce Vincent Hložník a „slovenská Sixtínska kaplnka“, je predstaviť a popísať menej známe dielo významného slovenského umelca, v podobe sakrálnej výzdoby zrekonštruovaného kostola sv. Michala archanjela v Dolnom Hričove. V úvodných častiach predstavím osobnosť autora, situáciu okolo rekonštrukcie farnosti a samotný kostol. V ďalších častiach ponúknem náhľad na samotnú prácu, jej objednanie, realizáciu, až po samotný opis. Účelom tejto práce je popis a ikonografické zaradenie malieb, vitráží a mozaík, ktoré robia z tohto malého kostola slovenský unikát.
