Open Relationships: Subversive Potential or Normative Construciton?

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá zkoumáním otevřených vztahů, v kontextu vypovědí autorů na webové stránce otvorenevztahy.sk. V teoretické části je zachycena proměna vnímání vztahů v postmoderní době. V práci jsou použity koncepty zachycující individualizaci společnosti (Beck, Beck-Gernsheim), čistý vztah a konfluentní lásku, jako předpoklad čistého vztahu (Giddens), koncept práce na vztahu (Kipnis) heteronormativita institucí (Butler) a vymezení dosavadního zkoumání otevřených (polyamorních) vztahů (Nearing 1992; Anapol 1997; Noël 2006; Rust 1996; Easton, Liszt 1997; Jamieson 2004; Barker 2005; Sheff 2005; Klesse 2006). V druhé a hlavní části se práce soustředí na analýzu příběhů lidí, kteří na zkoumaných stránkách sdílejí svoje zkušenosti s otevřenými vztahy. Analýza se dělí na tři základní okruhy výpovědí a to otevřený vztah jako dlouhodobý projekt, otevřený vztah jako subverze a otevřený vztah jako normativní konstrukce. Tyto tři kategorie jsou odrazem základních tří vlastností otevřených (polyamorních) vztahů, tak jak je chápou autoři a autorky analyzovaných článků. Jsou to dlouhodobost, zahrnující v sobě zodpovědnost s nutnost práce nejen na sobě, ale i na vztahu, možný subverzivní potenciál otevřených vztahů a proti tomu i nevědomá tvorba normativní konstrukce.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of open (poly-amorous) relationships, in context of poly-amorous life stories posted on website otvorenevztahy.sk. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part of the thesis deals with concepts of love relationships in post modern era. The text introduces following concepts: individualisation of society and its influence on relationships (Beck, Beck.gernsheim), pure relationship and confluent love as new forms of organisation of intimate life (Giddens), working on relationship, mentioned in Love's Labours by Kipnis, then the concept of heteronormativity and its influence on relationships (Butler), and finally there is a summary of texts and research about polyamory and open relationships (Nearing 1992; Anapol 1997; Noël 2006; Rust 1996; Easton, Liszt 1997; Jamieson 2004; Barker 2005; Sheff 2005; Klesse 2006). Second part is the main part of the thesis and it includes analysis of poly-amorous story telling posted on website otvorenevztahy.sk., where people share their experience with this form of relationships. Three main topics were identified in their stories, which is reflected in the analysis and its structure. First, it was long term working on relationships; second, subversive potential of open relationships; and third some unconscious making of norms for open (poly-amorous) relationships.
