Need for Filth

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo teoretické ukotvení pojmu potřeba špíny a navrhnutí fungujícího nástroje k jeho měření. Potřeba špíny je spojována se zvýšeným zájmem o klevety, vyšší oblibu reality show a s vyšší mírou konvencionalismu. Teoreticky je proto vztahována k pravicovému autoritářství a sociabilitě, jakožto k ukazatelům konvergentní validity. Na základě série exploračních faktorových analýz bylo z původních 45 navržených položek potřeby špíny indikováno 18 položek, které postoupily do vlastního testování měřící škály. 4faktorový model navržený na výstupech pilotáže byl ověřován konfirmační faktorovou analýzou. Přestože samotná škála vykazovala poměrně slušnou míru vnitřní konzistence ω = 0,89, výsledky CFA celkově bohužel nedopadly uspokojivě, pročež byl navrhnut alternativní 3faktorový model. Alternativní model byl ku prospěchu věci, nicméně je zatížen mnohými nedostatky, které jsou v práci diskutovány. Výzkumný soubor této práce sestává ze 404 respondentů, z čehož bylo 320 žen (79,3 %) a 83 mužů (20,5 %) ve věku od 17 do 74 let.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is the theoretical anchoring of the concept of a need for filth and designing a functioning tool for its measurement. The need for filth is associated with an increased interest in gossip, watching more of the reality shows and a higher degree of conventionalism. It is therefore theoretically related to right-wing authoritarianism and sociability as indicators of convergent validity. Based on a series of exploratory factor analyses of the original 45 proposed items, 18 items were indicated and advanced to the testing scale. The 4-factor model designed on piloting outputs was verified by confirmatory factor analysis. Although the scale itself showed a fairly good degree of internal consistency ω = 0.89. The overall CFA results were unsatisfactory, which is why an alternative 3-factor model was proposed. The alternative model is quite good, but it is burdened with many shortcomings that are discussed in the thesis. The research sample of this thesis consists of 404 respondents, of whom 320 were women (79.3 %) and 83 were men (20.5 %) aged 17 to 74 years.
