Tertiary and Permian limnic siliceous rocks from western and central Bohemia

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje charakteristice permských a třetihorních (miocenních) limnosilicitů ze středních a západních Čech. V první části práce se obecně vysvětluje pojem silicity a jejich členění, přesnější klasifikace a geneze. Následně jsou popisovány jednotlivé studované lokality, kde se rozebírají podklady pro stáří horniny, jejich stratigrafická pozice a dosavadní poznatky. Ve výzkumné části byly limnosilicity studovány ve výbrusech v odraženém a procházejícím světle. Dále jsou uvedeny výsledky z měření magnetické susceptibility, obsahy jednotlivých prvků a oxidů naměřené metodou LA-ICP-MS, hodnoty z úplné silikátové analýzy a stanovení prvků v pevných vzorcích metodou ICP-MS. V práci jsou prezentovány i výsledky RTG-difrakčních analýz, stanovení K, U a Th gama-spektrometricky a hodnoty z měření fluidních inkluzí. Rámcově byly určeny makro a mikrofosílie a také byla provedena determinace pylových zrn. Některé artefakty z mezolitické stanice v Tašovicích, která se nachází poměrně blízko od zdroje limnosilicitů v sokolovské pánvi (do deseti kilometrů od zdroje), lze s velkou pravděpodobností ztotožnit s touto surovinou.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the characteristics of the Permian and Tertiary (Miocene) limnic siliceous rocks from western and central Bohemia. In the first part the thesis explains the general concept of siliceous rocks and their division, accurate classification and genesis. Subsequently, there are described individual study localities, where we discuss evidence for the age of the rocks, their stratigraphic position and current knowledge. In the research part of the thesis limnic siliceous rocks were studied in thin sections in reflected and transmitted light. Next the results of measurement of magnetic susceptibility, the contents of individual elements and oxides measured by the LA- ICP-MS method, the value of total silicate analysis and determination of elements in solid samples by the ICP –MS method. In the thesis they are presented results of X-ray diffraction analyses, determination of K, U and Th by gamma - spectrometry and the values measurements of fluid inclusions. Macro- and microfossils were determined approximately and it was carried also a determination of pollen grains. Some artefacts from the Mesolithic station of Tašovice (District Karlovy Vary), which is located relatively close to the source of limnic siliceous rock in the Sokolov Basin (up to ten kilometres from the source), can be likely identify with this material.
