Changes in popular culture and contemporary norms of wedding ceremonies

Abstract:

Předmětem výzkumu jsou proměny svatebních rituálů a na ně navazujících zvyků a obyčejů v mikrosociologické perspektivě za posledních 50 let. Výzkumná otázka zní: Jaká sociální fakta se podílela na proměnách svatebních rituálů v uvedeném období, a to jak ve formální rovině, tak v rovině obsahové? Jinak řečeno: Práce se zaměří jednak na to, co se v rámci zkoumaných sociálních praktik dělalo a dělá jinak a jednak na proměny motivací, způsobů vnímání a interpretací těchto praktik zpohledu zúčastněných aktérů. Vtéto souvislosti bude nutné zjistit, jaké sociální normy utvářely či utvářejí dřívější a současné podoby svatebních rituálů, kdo byli či jsou jejích hlavní nositelé a jaké byly či jsou jejich zdroje. Výzkum se zaměřuje na sociokulturní, ale i jiné faktory, které ovlivňovaly proměny svatebních rituálů ve zkoumaném prostředí. Práce vychází z předpokladu, že jsou v rámci sociální reprodukce a proměn svatebních rituálů významným faktorem komunikační technologie, a to jak tzv. stará, tak i nová interaktivní média, která umožňují různého druhu srovnání a inspirace. Jedná se o praktický kvalitativní výzkum ve vybraném prostředí, který se opírá zejména o komunikativní paměť potencionálních informátorů.

Abstract:

The subject of the research are the changes in wedding rituals and related customs and customs in a microsociological perspective over the last 50 years. The research question is: what social facts have contributed to the transformations of wedding rituals in this period, both in terms of form and content. In other words: the thesis will focus both on what has been done and is being done differently within the social practices under study and on the changes in motivations, perceptions and interpretations of these practices from the perspective of the actors involved. In this context, it will be necessary to find out what social norms shaped or are shaping past and present forms of wedding rituals, who were or are the main bearers of these norms, and what were or are their sources. The research focuses on sociocultural as well as other factors that have influenced the transformation of wedding rituals in the setting under study. The thesis is based on the assumption that communication technologies, both the so-called old and new interactive media, are important factors in the social reproduction and transformation of wedding rituals, allowing for various kinds of comparison and inspiration. This is a practical qualitative research in a selected setting, relying mainly on the communicative memory of potential informants.
