Abstract:
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the controversial figure of Jesse James, to focus primarily on the facts and ascertain whether he really was such a kind hero many Americans see him as even today or just a skillfully designed illusion of a rebel. A rebel whom the citizens of the South demoralized by the Civil War longed for.

Účelem této bakalářské práce je zanalyzovat kontroverzní postavu Jesse Jamese, zaměřit se především na fakta, a v konečném výsledku zjistit zdali byl Jesse James opravdu takovým dobrosrdečným hrdinou, jak jej mnozí Američané dodnes nazývají, anebo pouze umně zkonstruovanou iluzí bojovníka proti systému po které tehdejší Civilní Válkou demoralizované obyvatelstvo Amerického Jihu toužilo.
