The influence of Gulf States on radicalisation of Muslims in the Benelux

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá vlivem externích faktorů na radikalizaci muslimů v Evropě. Jedná se o indikativní případovou studii, jejímž cílem je analyzovat vliv Saúdské Arábie na radikalizaci holandských muslimů. Východiskem práce je teze, že Saúdská Arábie má na radikalizaci vliv prostřednictvím exportu své nesnášenlivé fundamentalistické ideologie a budováním infrastruktury, v jejímž rámci k radikalizaci dochází. Tato teze je v teoretické části podpořena prostřednictvím aktuálních teoretických modelů radikalizace, které naznačují spojitost mezi náboženským fundamentalismem a radikalizací. V praktické části je pak saúdský vliv zkoumán prostřednictvím analýzy historického působení saúdských organizací v Holandsku a jejich vlivu na utváření úrodného prostředí pro radikalizaci. Výsledkem analýzy je zjištění, že saúdský vliv lze skutečně označit za jeden z faktorů ovlivňujících radikalizaci, zároveň lze rovněž potvrdit teorii o souvislosti fundamentalismu s radikalizací.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the influence of external factors on the radicalization of European Muslims. This is an indicative case study that aims to analyze the impact of Saudi behaviour on the radicalization of Dutch Muslims. Foundation of the thesis is proposition, that Saudi Arabia has the influence on radicalization through export of its intolerant fundamentalist ideology and by setting up infrastructu where radicazation takes place. In theoretical part, this proposition is supported by current theories of radicalization, that indicate the link between religious fundamentalism and radicalization. In practical part, Saudi influence is examined through analysis of the historical impact of Saudi organizations operating in the Netherlands and their influence on the formation of breeding ground for radicalization. The finding of the analysis is confirmation, that Saudi impact is one of the factors influencing radicalization. Also the theory about the link between fundamentalism and radicalization is confirmed.
