Burnout syndrome of workers caring for the elderly in the Czech republic and Germany

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá syndromem vyhoření u pracovníků pečujících o seniory v domovech pro seniory v České republice a v Německu. V teoretické části jsme téma přiblížili na teoretické úrovni, vysvětlili definici syndromu vyhoření, jeho fáze, příznaky a projevy, rizikové faktory vzniku vyhoření, diagnostika, prevence a léčba. V praktické části jsme zjišťovali a porovnávali stupně vyhoření pracovníků pečujících o seniory v domovech důchodců v České republice a v Německu, konkrétně v oblasti severních Čech a v Německu ve spolkové zemi Bavorsko. Ve výzkumném projektu jsme použili standardizovaný dotazník americké psycholožky Beverly Potters. Cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit míru vyhoření pečujících a porovnat pracovníky z domovů důchodců ve dvou státech. Došli jsme k závěru, že míra vyhoření u pečovatelů o seniory v České republice i v Německu není nijak vysoká. Podle zjištěných průměrů je zřejmé, že míra vyhoření je u Němců nižší než u Čechů.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the burnout syndrome of professionals caring for the elderly at homes for the elderly in the Czech Republic and in Germany. In the theoretical part we have approached the topic at a theoretical level, explained the definition of the burnout syndrome, its phases, the symptoms and appearances, the risk factors of rising burnout, diagnostics, prevention and healing. In the practical part we have determined and compared the degrees of burnout of professionals caring for the elderly at homes for retired people in the Czech Republic and in Germany, concretely in the district of Northern Bohemia and in Germany, in the federal state of Bavaria. In the research project we have used a standardised question of the American psychologist Beverly Potters. The aim of the research was to determine the extent of burnout of the carers and to compare the professionals of the retirement homes in two countries. We have come to the conclusion, that the extent of the burnout of the carers for the aged in the Czech Republic and in Germany is not at all high. Nevertheless, after determining the average, it is evident that the extent of burnout is less at the German homes than in the Czech homes.
