The influence of the changing social status of women on the interwar work of Otto Dix

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce Vliv změny společenského postavení žen na meziválečnou tvorbu Otto Dixe se pokouší o sociologickou analýzu děl zobrazujících ženy přímo dotčené postupnou ženskou emancipací. Po teoretické části poskytující informace o nových realismech, nové věcnosti, Dixově meziválečné tvorbě a společenské situaci ve Výmarské republice se zaměřením na ženskou otázku následuje část analytická, která se zaměřuje na lustmord, prostitutky nakažené syfilidou a tzv. nové ženy. V každé kapitole je Dixovo dílo konfrontováno s dílem magického realisty a dílem malířky.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis attempts a sociological analysis of works depicting women directly affected by gradual female emancipation. The theoretical part which provides information on new realisms, new objectivity, Dix's interwar work and the social situation in the Weimar Republic with a focus on the woman question is followed by an analytical part, which focuses on lustmord, prostitutes infected with syphilis and so-called new women. In each chapter, Dix's work is confronted with the work of a magic realist painter and the work of a woman painter.
