Medieval Female Saints in Bohemian Hymn Legends of Early Modern Age

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá porovnáváním obrazu světic středověkých legend a českých barokních písní o svatých. Prvním výstupem této práce se stalo teoretické pojednání o původu, vývoji a žánrovém rozvrstvení středověkých legend a kancionálových písní raného novověku. Druhým výstupem jsou teoretické kapitoly o genderovém pojetí ženy v literatuře. Třetím výstupem diplomové práce jsou dílčí studie pokoušející se o analýzu a následnou komparaci postavy světic s využitím terminologie vzešlé z teoretické části práce. Cílem této práce je nalézt shody a rozdíly v pojetí světic v rámci období středověku a novověku, zejména období baroka. Výchozími texty pro tuto praktickou část jsou: soubor Legenda aurea a kancionály Šimona Lomnického z Budče, Adama Michny z Otradovic, Matěje Václava Šteyera a Jana Josefa Božana.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis deals with female characters from medieval legends and possible change of their perception by the society during the baroque period. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of origin, development and genre division of medieval legends and hymns of early modern age. Subsequently, it contains theoretical chapters of gender conception of a woman in the literature. The third part consists of partial studies, which are trying to analyse and afterwards compare character of the saintess using terminology from the theoretical part of the thesis. The aim of the thesis is to find similarities and differences of image of saintessess between medieval legends and bohemian baroque hymns. The literature sources for this part are hymnbooks of Šimon Lomnický of Budeč, Adam Michna of Otradovice, Matěj Václav Šteyer and Jan Josef Božan.
