Current media conception of theatre, and the relation between theatre and film culture in our region at the end of the 19th century and during the firsts decades of the 20th century

Abstract:

V této práci předkládám interpretaci a kritickou analýzu mediálních koncepcí a přístupů k divadlu a divadelní vědě. Komentované koncepty jsou aplikovány v doprovodných studíích o vztahu divadelní a filmové kultury na konci 19. století a v prvních dekádách 20. století. Představuji tyto koncepce: mediálnost (Medialität) a mediální podmínky (mediale Bedingungen) představení a performativity Eriky Fischer Lichte, Liveness, medializaci a kulturní ekonomii kulturních forem Philipa Auslandera, scéncké a mediální procesy (Szenische and mediale Vorgänge) Andrease Kotteho a systematizaci intermediality Christopherem Balmem. Představené koncepce a přístupy testuji ve studii věnované Hořickému pašijovém filmu, pravděpodobně prvnímu „filmu“ a divadelnímu „filmovému záznamu“ u nás. Ve druhé studii popisuji diskursivní konstrukci (zejména vázanou k pojmům primitivnosti a živosti) loutkářství v období tzv. loutkářské renesance v Čechách. Kombinuji teoretický a historiografický přístup, abych popsal divadelní a filmovou kulturu na konci 19. století a v prvních dekádách 20. Století jako dobu restrukturace uspořádání vzájemných distinktivních pozic kulturních forem a tím zintenzivnění jejich vzájemných mediálních vztahů.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis presents interpretation and critical analysis of media concepts and approaches to theatre and theatre studies. Discussed concepts are applied in accompanying studies of relations between theatre and film culture at the end of the 19th century and in first decades of the 20 th century. I present and discuss following concepts: Mediality (medialität) and media conditions (mediale Bedingungen) of performance and performativity by Erika Fischer-Lichte; Liveness, mediatization and cultural economy of cultural forms by Philip Auslander; Scenic and media processes (Szenische and mediale Vorgänge) by Andreas Kotte and systematization of intermediality by Christopher Balme. Presented media approaches to theatre in are tested in studies describing called Horitz Passion Play film, probably the first „film“ as well as theatre „documentation“ produced in Bohemia. In second study I describe the discursive constructions (notably related to notions of primitiveness as aliveness) of puppetry in so called „renaissance of puppetry“ era in Bohemia. Theoretical and historiographic approaches are combined to describe the theatre and film culture at the end of the 19th century and in first decades of the 20 th century as an era of restructuring of disposition of cultural forms which caused intensified media relation.
