An assesment of British rail reform

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zhodnocení britské železniční reformy. První část práce popisuje změny ve struktuře železnic Velké Británie započaté zákonem Railways act z roku 1993 a pokračující až do roku 2016. Druhá kapitola obsahuje hodnocení reformy, které je rozděleno do dvou částí. Nejdříve jsou shrnuta hodnocení jiných autorů a následně ve druhé části hodnotím reformu na základě ukazatelů, jako jsou náklady, služby a další. V závěrečné části práce je proveden odhad regresního modelu, kterým chci ověřit, zda byla reforma úspěšná při zvyšování výkonu osobní dopravy, a závěrečné shrnutí hodnocení reformy.

Abstract:

The goal of this diploma thesis is to assess British rail reform. The first part describe the changes in the structure of rails in Great Britain, which began by accepting the Railways act in 1993 and continued till 2016. In the second chapter is the assessment of British rail reform in three parts. In first part are summarised assessment of other authors and then in the second part I am assessing reform by indicators as are the costs, the services and others. In the final part is estimation of the regression model, which should prove if the reform was successful in increasing performance of passenger rail transport and there is also final summarise of assessment the reform.
