Caspase-12 is part of the family of cysteine proteases, which are known mostly as mediators of apoptosis and immune response. They are also involved in cell proliferation, differentiation or migration. Kaspáza-12 je součástí rodiny cysteinových proteáz, které jsou známé především jako mediátory apoptózy a imunitní odpovědi. Jsou také zapojeny do proliferace, diferenciace či migrace buněk. Přestože patří kaspáza-12 do skupiny zánětlivých kaspáz, její funkce jsou od ostatních členů této skupiny odlišné. Její primární roli se dosud nepodařilo identifikovat.
