The Career Change by Men with the Higher Education or With an Academic Degree to Handicraft

Abstract:

Tato magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá vysokoškolsky vzdělanými muži, kteří se rozhodli vykonávat určité řemeslo. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, popsat a vysvětlit, jakým způsobem vysokoškolsky vzdělaní muži subjektivně vnímají svou kariérovou změnu, která u nich nastala po opuštění původní práce kvůli uplatnění v řemesle. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části, na teoretickou a empirickou. V teoretické části je vysvětlena kariéra obecně, její rozvoj a hodnocení, dále kariérová změna, její typy, příčiny, samotný proces a jedna z jejích alternativ, a to změna profese. Mimo to je popsáno řemeslo obecně, možné cesty k získání řemeslných dovedností, dále vykonávání řemesla (zaměstnanecký poměr/ podnikání) a současný stav řemesel v České republice. V empirické části jsou popsány obecné aspekty kvalitativního výzkumného šetření a představeny a interpretovány výsledky výzkumu uskutečněného prostřednictvím hloubkových polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s muži, jejichž hlavním zdrojem příjmů je vykonávané řemeslo.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with higher-educated men who have decided to do a certain handicraft. The aim of the thesis was to find out, to describe and to explain, how higher-educated men subjectively perceive their career change that occured after leaving their original job to do specific handicraft. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and the empirical part. The theoretical part explains career in general, its development and evaluation. Further it describes career change, its types, causes and the process itself and one of its alternatives, namely the vocational change. The thesis also describes handicraft in general, the possible ways to acquire handicraft skills, the ways of performing handicraft (employment/business) and the current state of handicraft in the Czech Republic. The empirical part describes general aspects of qualitative research and presents and interprets the results of the research which was realized by method of semi-structured interviews with the men who have decided to do a certain handicraft.
