Renovation of Mariánská Týnice from the Perspective of Monument Heritage

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje tématu obnovy a dostavby, která se uskutečnila za účelem rekonstrukce objektu významné barokní památky v podobě bývalého poutního areálu v Mariánské Týnici s kostelem Zvěstování Panně Marii v průběhu 20. století. Havarijní stav objektu v minulosti vyvrcholil po zřícení kopule kostela v roce 1920 z důvodu jeho dlouhodobého chátrání po zrušení plaského kláštera, k němuž došlo po sekularizaci v důsledku reforem Josefa II, kdy již místo nenalezlo odpovídající využití. Mariánská Týnice byla postavena cisterciáckým klášterem v Plasích podle náročného projektu architekta Jana Blažeje Santiniho-Aichla. Základní kámen ke kostelu položil opat Eugen Tyttl roku 1711, v době do zrušení plaského kláštera v roce 1785 došlo k výstavbě proboštství, kostela a západní ambitové chodby, východní ambitová chodba již dokončena nebyla. S ohledem na havarijní stav v následujících desetiletích proběhla rozsáhlá obnova, jejíž součástí byla rovněž náročná rekonstrukce kupole kostela, završená v roce 2021 dostavbou východního ambitu. Cílem práce bylo představit téma v širším kontextu památkové péče.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with the topic of reconstruction and completion of Mariánská Týnice during 20th century. Mariánská Týnice is both the important baroque monument and a former pilgrimage place, centre of which is the Church of the Annunciation. The building´s emergency state culminated in the past after the collapse of the church dome in 1920, following the long-term decay after the abolition of the near monastery in Plasy. This poor state was the consequence of the secularisation reforms realised by the Emperor Joseph II, after which this place did not found any further use. Mariánská Týnice was built by a Cistercian Monastery in Plasy according to an ambitious project by architect Jan Blažej Santini-Aichl. The foundation stone of the church was laid by Abbot Eugen Tyttl in 1711 but the project, which was designed by the above-mentioned significant baroque architect, was not fully completed. Until the abolition of Monastery in Plasy in 1785, the construction of the provostry building, of the church and of western cloister corridor had been completed, while eastern cloister corridor had not been finished at all. In connection with the state of emergency, the extensive reconstruction and restoration took place in the following decades, which also included a demanding reconstruction of the dome church, and culminated in 2021 after the completion of the eastern cloister ambit. The aim of this thesis was to present the unique project in the broader context of the monument care.
