Seasonal variability of unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of deciduous forests soils of the 3rd vegetation zone

Abstract:

Většina přírodních procesů zahrnujících interakci mezi vodou, atmosférou a rostlinami, probíhá za nenasycených půdních podmínek, tedy v nenasycené zóně (Environ et al., 2015). Samotný cíl této práce spočívá v zjištění, zda existuje sezónní variabilita nenasycené hydraulické vodivosti pro 3. vegetační stupeň listnatých lesů. Konkrétně bylo zvoleno 6 lokalit, 3 z nich se nacházely v edafické kategorii oglejená svěží a 3 z nich v edafické kategorii hlinitá. Podstatný faktor výběru lokalit je vegetační pokryv Buku lesního (Fagus sylvatica) věkového zastoupení vyšší jak 70 let. Terénní práce byly prováděny v rámci celého roku (listopad 2020-říjen 2021). Podstatným faktorem bylo měření kumulativní infiltrace pomocí přístroje Minidisk infiltrometr, z níž se vypočítala nenasycená hydraulická vodivost K(h) (cm/s-1), pomocí metody dle Zhang (1997). Jako doprovodné charakteristiky byly zjištěny: teplota půdy, hmotnostní vlhkost, objemová hmotnost a půdní druh. Sezonní proměnlivost byla zjištěna u všech charakteristik, rovněž u nenasycené hydraulické vodivosti K(h), která ovšem vykazovala signifikantní roční variabilitu, pokud byly hodnoty K(h) rozděleny na jednotlivé měsíce.

Abstract:

Most natural processes involving the interaction between water, atmosphere and plants take place under unsaturated soil conditions, thus in an unsaturated zone (Environ et al., 2015). The aim of this work is to determine whether there is seasonal variability of unsaturated hydraulic conductivity for the 3rd vegetation stage of deciduous forests. Specifically, 6 localities were selected, 3 of which were in the edafic category "glayed fresh" and 3 of them in the edafic category "loamy". Important factor in the selection of sites is the vegetation cover of the European beech (Fagus sylvatica) with an age of more than 70 years. Field work was carried out throughout the year (November 2020 - October 2021). An important factor was the measurement of cumulative infiltration using the Minidisk infiltrometer, from which the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity K(h) (cm/s-1) was calculated, using the method according to Zhang (1997). Accompanying characteristics were: soil temperature, moisture content, bulk density and soil type. Seasonal variability was found for all characteristics, also for unsaturated hydraulic conductivity K(h), which, however, showed significant annual variability when the values of K(h) were divided into individual months.
