Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá osobností hraběte Bély (1839–1880) a Gustava Kálnoky (1832–1898). Na osudech dvou bratrů přibližuje dvě různé kariéry šlechticů a každodenní život aristokracie ve druhé polovině 19. století. Na příkladu Gustava Kálnoky lze sledovat jeho pozoruhodnou profesní kariéru v diplomatickém sboru, kterou završil na postu společného ministra zahraničí a císařského domu Rakouska-Uherska. A naopak na příkladu jeho bratra Bély Kálnoky se můžeme seznámit s aktivitami šlechtice, který se usadil na rodinných statcích na Moravě a ztotožnil se s rolí velkostatkáře a poslance moravského zemského sněmu.

Abstract:

This Diploma Thesis deals with the personality of count Béla (1839–1880) and Gustav Kálnoky (1832–1898). Using the destiny of two brothers, it brings together two different careers of the aristocrats and also daily life of the aristocracy in the second half of the 19th Century. Having the example of Gustav Kálnoky, we can see his professional career in the diplomatic corps which he completed at the shared position of minister of foreign affairs and the imperial house of Austria-Hungary. And on the other hand, with the example of his brother Béla Kálnoky, we can get acquainted with the activities of a nobleman who settled on family farms in Moravia and identified himself with the position of a landowner and a member of the Moravian Parliament.
