Animals in Sami Folklore

Abstract:

Tématem této práce je vztah člověka a zvířete v sámském folkloru, zachycený ve formě vyprávění, pověstí a pohádek. Cílem je zjistit, zda (případně jak) Sámové chápali rozdíl mezi člověkem a zvířetem. V práci jsou využita vyprávění ze tří různých sbírek. Jsou rozebírána jak vyprávění ryze sámská, mimo severské prostředí nepříliš známá či úplně neznámá, tak i ta vyprávění, v nichž se objevují zvířata nepůvodní v sámském prostředí a jejichž obdobu můžeme znát z našeho středoevropského prostředí. Kromě toho je zde představeno zvíře z pohledu náboženství.

Abstract:

The topic of this thesis is the relation between a human and an animal in Sami folklore, which is captured in the form of stories, legends and fairytales. The aim of this thesis is to find out, if or how the Sami understood the difference between a human and an animal. There are stories from three different compilations used in this thesis. The analysed stories are from Sami surroundings, not well-known or not known outside the northern countries, but also stories with animals non-native to Sami motherland which we could know from our Central European surroundings. Furthemore, animals are introduced in the context of religion.
