Strategy of ČEZ, a.s. in electricity generation from renewable sources

Abstract:

Tématika obnovitelných zdrojů energie je v současné době velmi aktuální záležitostí. Alternativní zdroje energie jsou často považovány za způsob, jak se chovat odpovědně k životnímu prostředí a zároveň dosáhnout alespoň částečné energetické nezávislosti. V České republice byl zaveden systém podpory výroby energie z obnovitelných zdrojů, a to prostřednictvím zvýhodněných výkupních cen. V důsledku této podpory se stala výroba obnovitelné energie velmi výnosným podnikáním, a proto dochází v posledních letech k významnému rozmachu v zakládání slunečních a větrných elektráren. Tento uměle vyvolaný stav nese svá negativa: kromě výrazného zdražení elektrické energie konečným spotřebitelům existuje reálné riziko, že rozvodná síť v České republice nebude schopna pojmout stále se zvyšující množství elektřiny pocházející ze solárních a větrných elektráren, které jsou charakteristické značnou nestabilností v dodávkách energie. Teoretická část práce obsahuje popis legislativy a celkových podmínek pro výrobu elektrické energie z obnovitelných zdrojů v České republice. Charakterizuje jednotlivé segmenty výroby elektrické energie z obnovitelných zdrojů z teoretického a obecného hlediska. V analytické části práce jsou kapitoly věnovány strategii společnosti ČEZ, a.s., ve výrobě energie z obnovitelných zdrojů s ohledem na požadavky autorit, tedy státu a Evropské unie, dále pak analýze efektivnosti obnovitelných zdrojů energie, které při výrobě dosahuje ČEZ, a.s., a porovnání efektivnosti těchto alternativních zdrojů s efektivností tradičních, neobnovitelných zdrojů energie. Cílem práce je analýza strategie výroby elektrické energie z obnovitelných zdrojů společnosti ČEZ, a.s., jakožto dominantního výrobce a distributora elektrické energie v České republice.

Abstract:

The subject of renewable energy is a very topical issue. Alternative energy sources are often considered as a way to act responsibly to the environment while achieving a partial energy independence. A system to support production of renewable energy through subsidized purchase price was implemented in the Czech Republic. As a result of this support, renewable energy has become to be a very profitable business, and therefore there is a significant increase in the amount of new solar and wind power plants in recent time. This situation has disadvantages: in addition to growth of electricity prices, there is a real risk that the distribution network in the Czech Republic will not be able to handle the increasing amount of electricity from solar and wind power plants, which are characterized by instability in energy supplies. The theoretical part contains a description of the legislation and the overall conditions for the production of electricity from renewable sources in the Czech Republic. It characterizes the segments of electricity production from renewable sources from theoretical and general aspects. The analytical chapters of the work are devoted to the strategy of ČEZ, a.s., in the production of renewable energy with regard to requirements of authorities, especially the state and the European Union. Then, the chapters analyze the effectiveness of renewable energy which is achieved by ČEZ, a.s. The effectiveness of these alternative sources is compared to the efficiency of traditional, non-renewable energy sources. The aim of this work is to analyze the strategy in power generation from renewable sources of ČEZ, a.s., which is the dominant producer and distributor of electricity in the Czech Republic.
