Applications of Matrix Theory

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „ Aplikace teorie matic“ pojednává o různorodém použití matic. První kapitola nám bude nastiňovat stručnou historii matic. Jejím cílem bude rovněž formulace důležitých pojmů, které jsou spjaty s maticemi a taktéž prezentace operací s nimi. V práci se budu podrobněji věnovat incidenčním maticím grafů a maticím komunikačním. Tato kapitola bude pojednávat o klikách, které jsou za určitých podmínek podmnožinami orientovaného grafu. Důležitou roli hrají rovněž dominantně-orientované grafy, které jsou speciálním typem orientovaného grafu. Cílem následujících kapitol bude stručné a výstižné formulování dalších aplikací teorie matic a rovněž demonstrace na různých příkladech. Jedná se o soustavy lineárních rovnic, lineární programování a metodu severozápadního rohu, kde matice jsou důležitou součástí při hledání jejich řešení. V závěru práce budou krátce uvedeny další možnosti aplikace matic v jiných matematických disciplínách.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis “Applications of Matrix Theory” deals with varied applications of matrices. The first chapter will outline a brief history of matrices. Formulation of important terms, which are connected with matrices, will be also one of its aims as well as a presentation of operations with matrices. In the next chapter I will go in for vertex matrix of graphs and communication matrix in detail. It will also deal with cliques, which are under some circumstances a subset of directed graph. Dominant-directed graphs play an important part in this area because they are special types of directed graphs. Brief and apt formulation of applications of matrices will be the aim of the following chapters along with their demonstrations on different examples. It concerns system of linear equations, linear programming and the method of northwest corner, where matrices play an important part during the searching for the results. Other possibilities of the applications of matrices in different mathematical areas will be introduced at the end of this thesis.
