Evaluation of key-value data storages in Perun system

Abstract:

Perun, as a system for managing users, groups, resources and services, uses attributes for accessing data about these entities. The current solution for saving data is not efficient enough, because there exist many attributes and it is often needed to load information about them. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to choose a key-value database and use it as a secondary storage for attributes. The database had to comply with the needs of Perun system. Faster access to attributes has already been solved by Katarína Hrabovská in her thesis Efficient access to database data in Perun system. Measuring this solution with my solution and internal storage of system Perun is also part of this thesis.

Abstract:

Perun, ako systém na správu užívateľov, skupín, zdrojov a služieb, využíva atribúty na jednotný prístup k dátam týchto entít. Keďže atribútov existuje veľké množstvo a je o nich potrebné často načítavať údaje z databázy, súčasné riešenie ukladania dát sa ukázalo byť pomalé. Mojou úlohou bolo vybrať databázu typu kľúč-hodnota vyhovujúcu požiadavkám systému Perun a použiť ju ako sekundárne úložisko na ukladanie atribútov. Zrýchlenie prístupu k atribútom už riešila Katarína Hrabovská vo svojej bakalárskej práci Efektívny prístup k databázovým dátam v systéme Perun Súčasťou môjho riešenia je aj meranie rýchlosti medzi týmto riešením, mojím riešením a interným úložiskom systému Perun.
