This thesis deals with an issue within the area of reading of the female characters within the genre of popular children’s’ literature. It aims to deconstruct the stereotypical reading of some of the secondary female characters within the Harry Potter book series in order to contribute to what Heilman and Sturm called “gender-neutral” discourse.
