U-Mo mineralization in granitoids of the Gattar massif, Northern Eastern Desert of Egypt

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na U-Mo minerlizaci v masivu Gabal Gattar v Egyptě. Vzorky byly studovány následujícími metodami: mikroskopicky, mikrotermometricky, Ramanovou spektroskopií a elektronovou mikroanalýzou (EPMA). Studium limitovaného množství vzorků potvrdilo přítomnost molybdenitu v oblasti vzorkování. Uran nebyl potvrzen žádnou z metod. Mikroskopie v odraženém světle potvrdila přítomnost křemene, hematitu a chalkopyritu. Viditelné undulózní zhášení pozorované v polarizovaném světle indikuje deformaci křemene důsledkem okolního tlaku. Rudní minerály sulfidové fáze jsou reprezentovány chalkopyritem, sfaleritem, pavonitem, gladitem a hodrušitem. Studium fluidních inkluzí (FI) potvrdilo přítomnost dvou typů fluidních inkluzí: 1- fázové (L- kapalina) a 2- fázové (L- kapalina + V- plyn). Sekundární inkluze tvořily traily (FIT) a pseudo-sekundární inkluze byly uspořádány podél růstových zón. Byly pozorovány různé tvary inkluzí: pravidelné, zaoblené, nepravidelné, mírně protáhlé, cylindrické či skoro kulaté s rozměry od 2 do 12 μm. Studium fluidních inkluzí dále prokázalo, že H2O-NaCl ± FeCl2 fluida infiltrovaná v konkrétní křemenné žíle vykazovala nízkou salinitu (0,0 - 4,7 hm. % NaCl eq.) s teplotou homogenizace (Th) od 104,0°C do 227,0°C. Eutektická teplota (Te) dosahovala hodnot od -36°C do -27°C. Mikrotermometrická měření poukázala na možnost, že měřené fluidní inkluze nevznikly při srážení křemene.

Abstract:

This Bachelor´s Thesis deals with U-Mo mineralization located in Gabal Gattar batholith in Egypt. The samples were studied using: Microscopy methods, microthermometry, Raman spectroscopy and electron microprobe analysis (EPMA). The study of limited number of samples resulted in confirmation of occurrence of molybdenite in sampling area. Uranium was not proved by any method. Microscopy in reflected light proved presence of quartz, hematite and chalcopyrite. Noticed undulose extinction seen in polarized light indicates deformation of quartz due to ambient pressure. Ore minerals of sulphide phase are represented by chalcopyrite, sphalerite, pavonite, gladite and hodrushite. Study of fluid inclusion (FI) confirmed occurence of two types of fluid inclusions: 1- phase (L- liquid) and 2- phase (L- liquid + V- vapour) inclusions. Secondary inclusions formed fluid inclusions trails (FIT) and pseudo-secondary FIs were arranged along healed fractures also forming trails. Several shapes of FIs were determined: regular or roundish, irregular or slightly elongated and cylindrical or nearly spherical with size of 2 to 12 μm. Fluid inclusions study also indicated that fluids infiltrated in specific quartz vein were generally low salinity (0.0 – 4.7 mass% NaCl eq.) H2O-NaCl ± FeCl2 fluids suggested by eutectic temperature (Te) ranged from -36.0 °C to -27.0 °C with homogenization temperatures (Th) from 104.0 °C to 227.0 °C. Microthermometry measurements point to the posibility that the measured FIs do not belong to the quartz precipitation conditions.
