Radon measurements in buildings and protection of inhabitants

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci je shrnuta metodika měření a hodnocení obsahu přírodních radionuklidů ve stavebních materiálech dle Státního ústavu pro jadernou bezpečnost. Obecný postup je aplikován na vlastní měření čtyř vzorků stavebních materiálů – minerální vlny, vápenopískové cihly, betonové cihly a pálené plné cihly. Měření bylo provedeno ve dvou přístrojích metodou gamaspektrometrie. Získané výsledky byly porovnány s hodnotami měření, která byla provedena akreditovanými laboratořemi pro výrobce materiálů, a s normovými hodnotami. Všechny vzorky splňují mezní normové hodnoty, pouze vzorek pálené cihly nesplnil směrnou hodnotu pro použití jako stavební materiál pro výstavbu zdí obytných nebo pobytových místností.

Abstract:

This thesis resumes measurement methods for radionuclides contained in building materials, as directed by the State Office for Nuclear Safety of the Czech Republic. The procedure was applied to measure the activity of four building material specimens – mineral insulation wool, a sand lime brick, a concrete brick and a burnt brick. Two laboratory gamma-ray spectrometers were used to execute the measurement. The results obtained from this process were compared both with the legal limits for the specific building materials and with the measurement results, made by the certified laboratories for the producers of all the material specimens used. All specimens, excluding the burnt brick, did not exceed the limits for materials used to build walls of living areas.
