Academic Procrastination in Early Adulthood

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zaměřuje na prokrastinaci, konkrétně akademickou prokrastinaci, a vynořující se dospělost. Cílem práce bylo ověřit existenci vztahu mezi těmito dvěma koncepty. V rámci výzkumu byly také zjišťovány rozdíly mezi ženami a muži a také mezi nepracujícími a pracujícími studenty ve spojitosti s akademickou prokrastinací a vynořující se dospělostí. Výzkumný soubor se skládal z 253 vysokoškolských studentů – 32 % mužů a 68 % žen. Všichni byli studenty právnické fakulty z Masarykovy univerzity v Brně, Univerzity Palackého v Olomouci anebo Univerzity Karlovy v Praze. Díky tomuto zastoupení byly porovnány také výsledky studentů z jednotlivých univerzit mezi sebou. Průměrný věk respondentů byl 22,1 let. V rámci výzkumu byly použity dva dotazníky – Škála akademické prokrastinace (Lay, 1986) a Inventář dimenzí vynořující se dospělosti (Reifman, Arnett, & Colwell, 2007).

Abstract:

The presented diploma thesis is aimed on procrastination, especially academic procrastination, and emerging adulthood. The aim of the thesis was to verify existence of relationship between these two conceptions. The differences between men and women and also between working and nonworking students in connection with academic procrastination and emerging adulthood were also verified in the research. The research group was consisted of 253 university students – 32 % men and 68 % women. All of the students were law students from Masaryk University in Brno, Palacký University Olomouc and Charles University in Prague. Because of this representation, the results of students from different Universities were compared as well. An average age in the researched group was 22, 1 years. Two questionnaires – Procrastination Scale for Student Populations (Lay, 1986) and Inventory of the Dimension of Emerging Adulthood (Reifman, Arnett, & Colwell, 2007) were used in this research.
