Je známo, že střevní mikrobiom hraje zásadní roli ve zdraví svého hostitele. Zatímco analýza bakteriálních sekvenačních dat se stala rutinně prováděnou praxí, analýza sekvencí hub a jejich ITS regionů dosud nebyla optimalizována. The gut microbiome is known to play a vital role in its host’s health. While the analysis of bacterial sequenced data has become a routinely done practice, the analysis of fungal sequences and their ITS regions has not yet been optimised.
