Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou slovesných reduplikací v čínštině. Reduplikace je jazykový jev, při němž se slovo nebo jeho část opakuje, aby se přidal důraz, vyjádřila mnohost nebo vytvořil nový význam. Je to běžný rys čínštiny používaný v literárních i neliterárních textech. Na rozdíl od čínštiny se v angličtině a češtině reduplikace jako stylistický prostředek používá jen příležitostně. Práce se zaměřuje na vliv reduplikace na překlad jednoho ze čtyř klasických čínských románů, Sen v červeném domě, do angličtiny a češtiny. Cílem práce je vytvořit malý korpus různých vzorců slovesných reduplikací, které se vyskytují ve výchozím textu, Sen v červeném domě, a jejich překladů do češtiny a angličtiny. Na základě tohoto korpusu můžeme analyzovat běžné překladatelské strategie užívané pro reduplikaci. Cílem práce je analyzovat tento stylistický prostředek v čínštině a pozorovat, jak jeho výskyt ve výchozím textu ovlivňuje text cílový. Korpus této práce je také vhodným nástrojem pro studenty čínštiny, aby lépe pochopili tvorbu a použití reduplikace.

Abstract:

This thesis analyses various patterns of verbal reduplication in Chinese. Reduplication is a linguistic phenomenon in which a word or part of a word is repeated to add emphasis, express plurality, or create a new meaning. It is a common feature of Chinese used in both literary and non-literary texts. In contrast to Chinese, English and Czech only occasionally use reduplication as a stylistic tool. The thesis focuses on the effect of reduplication on translation of one of the four classic Chinese novels, the Dream in the Red Chamber, into English and Czech. This thesis aims to form a small corpus of different patterns of verbal reduplications which occur in the source text, the Dream in the Red Chamber, and their translations into Czech and English. Based on this corpus, we can analyse what is a prominent translation strategy towards reduplication. The goal of the thesis is to look at this significant stylistic device in Chinese and evaluate how its occurrence in the source text influences the target text. The corpus of this thesis is also a great tool for students of Chinese to better comprehend the formation and use of reduplication.
