The Impact and development of urbanisation in Africa; a project for high-school geography education.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na vývoj urbanizace v Africe a jeho důsledky. Výstupem práce je projekt pro výuku geografie na střední škole. Zaměřením tohoto projektu je objasnění pojmu urbanizace a s ní spojených problémů, které lze pozorovat v afrických městech. Cílem práce je vysvětlit pojem urbanizace studentům, včetně kladů a záporných stránek, tak aby dokázali definovat problémy spojené s urbanizací. Práce má upozornit na skutečnost, že spolu s modernizací Afriky a zvýšením urbanizace, dochází k mizení původního způsobu života Afričanů. Růst městské populace je doprovázen růstem populace slumů. Afričané si jistě zaslouží naši pozornost a pomoc. Pokud chceme poznat problém, musíme o něm vědět. Poznání, tedy vzdělání, je klíčem k řešení problémů.

Abstract:

This diploma work focuses on the evolution of urbanisation in Africa and its consequences.The output of this work is an educational project accordant to high school geography. The main research interest of this project is a definition of urban phenomenons that can be observed in african cities. The aim of this work is to explain the term of urbanisation to students, to name its positives and negatives and to define problems connected with urbanisation. The goal of this work is to bring attention to the fact that along with the modernisation of Africa and increase of its urbanisation comes diminishing of traditional lifestyle of Africans. The urban population grows rapidly and its growth is accompanied with a growth of slum population. Africans surely deserve our attention and help. If we intend to solve the problem, we have to know about it. Education is the key to the solution of problems.
