Sociální modulace množství močových proteinů u myšice malooké a myšice temnopásé

Abstract:

Důležitým zdrojem signálů pro malé noční savce z čeledi Muridae je moč. Ta u myší (Mus musculus) obsahuje tzv. hlavní močové proteiny (MUPs). Jejich funkcí je vazba a následné uvolňování feromonů. MUPs i feromony ovlivňují chování a fyziologii příjemce a mohou podávat informace o jedinci. U MUPs také v přítomnosti jiného jedince dochází k modulaci jejich exprese a tím ke změně intenzity signálu. Cílem této práce bylo analyzovat proteiny v moči u příbuzného rodu Apodemus a případně popsat jejich funkci při komunikaci., Jako experimentální druhy byly vybrány myšice malooká (A. microps) s převažující genetickou monogamií a u myšice temnopásá (A. agrarius) s převažující promiskuitou. U obou experimentálních druhů bylo zjištěno výrazně nižší množství celkového proteinu než u myší. Dále byla sledována sociální modulace proteinů o velikosti okolo 20 kDa u A. agrarius a malých proteinů (přibližně 5 kDa) u A. microps. Přestože byly zjištěny mezidruhové rozdíly v expresi těchto proteinů v závislosti na sociálním uspořádání, tak pro detailnější poznání jejich funkce v čichové komunikaci myšic bude potřeba dalších experimentů.

Abstract:

Urine is an important source of signals for small nocturnal mammals from the family Muridae. Urine of the house mice (Mus musculus) contains major urinary proteins (MUPs). Their function is binding and slow releasing of pheromones. MUPs and pheromones influence behaviour and physiology of a recipient and they may provide the information on individuals. Mice also can modulate the expression of MUPs in the presence of a othter individual. The aim of this study was to analyse the urinary proteins of a related genus Apodemus and to describe their function in a communication. As experimental species we chose the Pygmy field-mouse (A. microps) with prevailing monogamous mating system, and Striped field-mouse (A. agrarius), which is highly promiscuous. We detected significantly lower quantity of total protein in both experimental species when compared with mice. Furthermore, in a special experiment we analysed social modulation of expression of proteins about 20 kDa in A. agrarius and small proteins (about 5 kDa) in A. microps was studied. Even if we observed conspicuous interspecific differences in the expression of proteins in various social environments, the definitive assessment of the role of urinary proteins in olfactory communication of Apodemus mice will need further experiments.
