Evaluation of the nutritional status of patients in a selected medical facility

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá hodnocením nutričního stavu pacientů hospitalizovaných na interním oddělení. V teoretické části jsou popsány kapitoly o výživě ve stáří, poruchách výživy a možnostech nutriční podpory. Dále je zde přehled o metodách hodnocení nutričního stavu a popis nástrojů pro identifikaci malnutrice. Praktická část hodnotí nutriční stav seniorů pomocí tří mezinárodně uznávaných škál: Mini Nutritional Assessment - Short Form, Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool a Nutritional Risk Screening 2002. Dle škály MNA-SF má normální stav výživy 48 % respondentů, dále 44 % respondentů je v riziku podvýživy a 8 % podvyživených. Škála MUST řadí do kategorie nízkého rizika podvýživy 76 % respondentů, do kategorie středního rizika 20 % a vysoké riziko podvýživy hrozí u 4 % respondentů. Poslední škála NRS 2002 zařazuje 58 % respondentů do kategorie normálního stavu výživy a 42 % do kategorie rizika malnutrice. Pro sběr dat je použita metoda dotazníkového šetření. Výsledky jsou zobrazeny pomocí tabulek či grafů a jsou shrnuty v diskuzi a závěru.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of the nutritional status of patients hospitalized in the internal medicine department. The theoretical part describes the chapters on nutrition in old age, eating disorders and nutritional support options. There is also an overview of methods for assessing nutritional status and a description of tools for identifying malnutrition. The practical part evaluates the nutritional status of seniors using three internationally recognized scales: Mini Nutritional Assessment - Short Form, Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool and Nutritional Risk Screening 2002. According to the MNA-SF scale, 48 % of respondents have a normal nutritional status, 44 % of respondents are at risk of malnutrition and 8 % are malnourished. The MUST scale ranks 76 % of respondents in the category of low risk of malnutrition, 20 % in the category of medium risk and 4 % of respondents at high risk of malnutrition. The last scale NRS 2002 classify 58 % of respondents in the category of normal nutritional status and 42 % in the category of malnutrition risk. For data collection is, used questionnaire survey method. The results are displayed using tables or graphs and are summarized in the discussion and conclusion.
