Education of women in the postpartum period on the topic of breastfeeding in the postpartum care unit

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem bakalářské práce bylo vytvořit a zrealizovat plán edukačního procesu pro ženy po porodu na téma kojení. Náplní edukačního procesu bylo zhodnotit teoretické znalosti žen před zahájením edukace, během edukace a po následujících třech měsících po proběhlé edukaci. Metodiku: Pro edukační proces byly vybrány čtyři ženy v poporodním období, pobývající na oddělení šestinedělí. Forma edukace byla individuální, ke každé ženě se přistupovalo dle jejich potřeb. Celá edukace byla členěna do čtyř edukačních jednotek, kterých se ženy zúčastnily. První edukační jednotka zahrnovala téma o procesu laktace, výhodách kojení pro matku a dítě a o správné výživě při kojení. Druhá edukační jednotka se zabývala správnou technikou kojení, možnostmi vzájemné polohy mezi matkou a dítětem při kojení. Náplní třetí edukační jednotky byly alternativní způsoby krmení a potíže, která můžou při kojení nastat. Poslední, čtvrtá edukační jednotka zahrnovala možnosti pomoci pro ženy v případě vzniklých problémů v oblasti kojení a pomůcky při kojení. Výsledky: Po uplynulých třech měsících po ukončení edukačního procesu bylo zjištěno, že ženy získaly základní vědomosti o procesu kojení, které využily ve svém běžném osobním životě. Závěry: Edukace je zásadní a důležitou součástí prevence. Aby byla edukace co nejefektivnější a nejkvalitnější je zapotřebí ke každému edukantovi přistupovat individuálně, empaticky s respektem. Důležitostí v procesu edukace je čas, jak pro samotnou edukaci, tak i čas vyhrazený pro edukanta. Je zapotřebí být k edukantům trpělivý a aktivně je zapojit do edukace.

Abstract:

The aim: The aim of the bachelor´s thesis was to create and implement a plan of the educational process for women after childbirth on the topic of breastfeeding. The content of the educational process was to evaluate theoretical knowledge of the women before the beginning of the education, during the education and after three following months of education. Methodology: Four women in the postpartum period, staying at postpartum care unit, were selected for the educational process. The form of education was individual, every woman was approached according to her needs. The entire education was divided into four educational units which the women participated in. The first educational unit included the topic of the lactation process, the benefits of breastfeeding for a mother and child, and proper nutrition during the breastfeeding. The second educational unit dealt with the correct breastfeeding technique, the possibilities of mutual position between a mother and child during breastfeeding. The content of the third educational unit were the alternative feeding methods and problems that can arise during breastfeeding. The last, the fourth educational method included the possibilities of help for women in case of problems in the area of breastfeeding and breastfeeding aids. Results: Three months after the end of the educational process, it was found that women got the general knowledge of breastfeeding process which they used in their personal lives. Conclusions: Education is a fundamental and important part of prevention. To achieve the efficient and high - quality education, it is necessary to approach every educator individually, empathically and with respect. Time is important in the educational proces, both for the education itself and the time reserved for the educator. It is necessary to be patient with educators and involve them actively in education.
