The effect of classroom differentiation in mathematics lessons on student performance

Abstract:

V diplomové práci sledujeme žáky 9. ročníku, kteří jsou v hodinách matematiky rozděleni do homogenních a heterogenních skupin podle jejich výkonnosti. Teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na aktuální situaci v českém školství v kontextu diferenciace a představuje relevantní výzkumy zabývající se touto problematikou. Praktickou část tvoří případová studie, která sleduje 49 žáků během školního roku 2022/2023. Žáci jsou v tomto období testováni pomocí gradovaných testů. Statistická analýza dat získaných z těchto testů slouží k vyhodnocení rizik spojených s rozdělením žáků do skupin podle jejich výkonnosti.

Abstract:

In the thesis, we observe students in the 9th grade who are divided into homogeneous and heterogeneous groups based on their performance in mathematics classes. The theoretical part of the work focuses on the current situation in the Czech education system in the context of differentiation and presents relevant research dealing with this issue. The practical part consists of a case study that follows 49 students during the school year 2022/2023. During this period, students are tested using graduated tasks. Statistical analysis of the data obtained from these tests is used to evaluate the risks associated with grouping students based on their performance.
