Foraging sites of Eurasian lynx in the Czech-Slovakia borderland

Abstract:

Tato pra?ce je zame?r?ena na nejve?ts?i? koc?kovitou s?elmu z?iji?ci? v C?eske? republice - rysa ostrovida (Lynx lynx), ktery? hraje du?lez?itou roli v ekosyste?mu, kde se zejme?na podi?li? na pr?irozene? regulaci kopytni?ku?. Samotny? vy?zkum probi?hal v obdobi? od dubna do c?ervna 2019 a na?sleduji?ci? rok be?hem ledna az? kve?tna. Celkem bylo navs?ti?veno 53 lokalit, kde v dr?i?ve?js?i?ch letech pracovni?ci Hnuti? DUHA Olomouc a dobrovolni?ci Vlc?i?ch hli?dek nalezli strz?enou rysi? kor?ist. K porovna?ni? se pr?idaly take? hodnoty z 36 vygenerovany?ch na?hodny?ch bodu?. Na kaz?de?m mi?ste? byla zme?r?ena pru?chodnost biotopu pomoci? metody Cover pole, jeji?z? hodnoty se pouz?ily k vy?poc?tu?m dvou indexu? Ground cover a AverDevSCI. Da?le se zaznamenala pr?i?tomnost ne?kolika mikrohabitatovy?ch prvku?. Vy?sledky uka?zaly, z?e nejve?ts?i? vliv pr?i vy?be?ru lovecke?ho habitatu ma? pr?i?tomnost ve?tvi? jehlic?naty?ch stromu? ve vy?s?ce 1,5 metru a heterogenita viditelnosti.

Abstract:

My thesis is focused on the biggest feline living in Czech Republic - The Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx). The lynx plays an important role in the ecosystem, especially it participates on the natural regulation of hoofed animals. The aim of my work is to describe the structure of kill sites biotope of the lynx which lives in the Czech-Slovakia borderland - mainly focused on microhabitat elements. Detailed information about the habitat and microhabitat prioties of hunting lynx can be important for better understanding ecology of this feline. The Eurasian lynx adapts to live in the cultural landscape. These detailed information can also help to provide better conservation of lynx, its habitat and also the areas, where the lynx should appear in the future. The reasearch hold from April to June 2019 and from January to May 2020. There were 53 kill sites visited. In these kill sites areas workers of Hnuti? DUHA Olomouc and volunteers of Vlc?i? Hli?dky found out prey, which were killed by the lynx. The data of 36 random points were also added for comparing. The visibility was measured on each visited kill site's area. Cover pole method was used for measuring the visibility and its values help to calculate 2 index - Ground cover and AverDevSCI. The microhabitat elements were also recorded. The results demonstrated that the biggest influence to choose kill site's habitat are coniferous branches at a height of 1,5 m from the ground and the heterogenity of visibility.
