Inventory control in a manufacturing company

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje teoretickým poznatkům v oblasti zásob, jejich úloze a významu pro společnost. Teoretická část je zaměřena jak na kate- gorizaci zásob, tak na objasnění nákladů vznikajících s jejich držením a na účinné metody používané k jejich řízení. Toto pojednání vysvětluje pojmy jako je ABC metoda, optimální velikost dodávky, nebo ekonomické objednací množství a další.Důraz na snižování zásob je jednou z priorit současné fi- remní strategie a proto v praktické části jsou teoretické poznatky z této oblasti aplikovány na konkrétní výrobní společnost. Práce je zaměřena nejen na rozdělení zásob na základě ABC analýzy a následné řízení jednotlivých skupin, nýbrž i na výpočet pojistných zásob a následné porovnání se skuteč- ně drženou hladinou zásob.V závěru práce je hodnocena současná praxe vy- cházející z dlouhodobých zkušeností a historických souvislostí. v oblasti hospodaření s obalovým materiálem je proveden rozbor aktuálního stavu, na který navazuje stanovení přínosu pro firmu, pokud by se stávající praxe určitým způsobem změnila. Zároveň je uvedeno, jaká zlepšení v oblasti do- davatelsko-odběratelských vztahů by přispěla k efektivnějšímu hospodaření firmy.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with theoretical knowledge in the area of inventory control, their role and importance to a company. The theoretical part is focused on inventory categorization, clarification of the costs arising from the storage of them and the effective methods used to manage them. In my thesis, I try to explain concepts such as the ABS-Pareto's Analysis, the optimal size of supply, respectively economic order quantity. The emphasis on stock reduction is a priority of the current corporate strategy and therefore, in the practical part, this theoretical knowledge is applied to a specific manufacturing company. I focus not only on the distribution of goods based on the Pareto's Analysis and subsequent management of the individual groups, but also on the calculation of safety stock and subsequent comparison with actual level of stock. In the conclusion,the current practice based on long-term experience and historical context is evaluated. The current state of management of packaging is analyzed and is followed by the determination of benefits for the company in case that the current practice changes. It is also indicated what further action in the area of the supplier-customer relationships would contribute to more efficient stock holding.
