The Expression of Aspect in Czech and Finnish

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá kategorií aspektu a jejím vyjadřováním v češtině a ve finštině. Na základě poznatků z tradičních i současných aspektuálních teorií jsou v práci popisovány prostředky sloužící k vyjádřování aspektuální opozice v obou jazycích. Následně je zde s využitím excerpcí z finské a české beletrie zkoumáno, zda si situace, v nichž je těchto konkrétních manifestací aspektu použito, odpovídají, či nikoli.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the category of the aspect and its expression in Czech and Finnish. On the basis of traditional and contemporary aspectual theories, the work concentrates on the description of means whose function is expressing the aspectual opposition in both languages. Furthermore, situations, in which these concrete manifestations of aspect occur, are confronted. The excerpts from the Czech and Finnish fiction are used for the confrontation.
