The Political Ideas of Czech Dissent in the 1970s and 1980s

Abstract:

Práce se pokouší s neurčitým stupňem úspěšnosti vyzdvihnout základní charakteristiku různě situovaných politických idejí, jež za postokupační normalizace tvořily běžnou myšlenkovou výzbroj tehdejšího politického života. Zaměřuje se na osobnosti 70. a 80. let 20. stol. a ideovou konfrontaci se systémem i mezi sebou, která je vděčným objektem srovnávání. Cílem je poskytnout explikaci diskutabilních vlastností tehdejší doby, díky níž můžeme lépe zhodnotit i současnost, a navázat na tradici celosvětového boje proti totalitním tendencím.

Abstract:

This work attempts with vague degrees of success to highlight the essential characteristics of differently situated political ideas, which were during the post-occupation normalization regarded as routine ideological weapons of political life. It focuses on the figures of the 1970s and 1980s and their ideological confrontation with the system and among themselves, which is a grateful object of comparison. The aim is to provide an explication of questionable characteristics of past times, through which we can better evaluate the present, and to continue the tradition of global fight against totalitarian tendencies.
