Spurs from the early medieval hillfort at Pohansko near Břeclav

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce popisuje soubor ostruh z velkomoravské lokality Břeclav - Pohansko. Práce zahrnuje všechny nalezené ostruhy, jež byly nalezeny během výzkumů vedených Masarykovou univerzitou. Práce ukazuje variabilitu souboru, kontexty v nichž byly jednotlivé exempláře nalezeny. Přidanou hodnotu k těmto informacím oddávají rentgenové snímky, které byly pro potřeby práce využity. Na základě zpracování dostupných zdrojů byla zjištěna značná variabilita v rámci souboru a také rozdíly se ukázalo, že ostruhy nesouvisely pouze s válečnictvím, nýbrž plnily i funkci sociálního statusu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis describes a set of spurs from the Great Moravian site of Břeclav - Pohansko. The thesis includes all the spurs found during the excavations conducted by Masaryk University. The work shows the variability of the collection, the contexts in which the individual specimens were found. Added value to this information is given by the X-ray images that were used for the purpose of the work. The processing of the available sources has revealed considerable variation within the assemblage, and also differences, showing that the spurs were not only related to warfare but also served a social status function.
