Preparation of Core-shell Magnetic Particles with Controlled Polymer Structure and their Applications

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce bylo připravit kompozitní core-shell (jádro-obal) magnetické částice s řízenou polymerní strukturou. Jako jádro bylo v tomto případě použito čisté karbonylové železo (CI), jehož povrch byl řízeně modifikován vrstvou polyamidoaminu (PAMAM). U takto připravených částic byla nejprve ověřena úspěšná modifikace povrchu, a poté byly provedeny testy oxidační a sedimentační stability, společně s vyhodnocením magnetického chování částic. Následně byly připraveny magnetoreologické suspenze zamícháním částic do silikonového oleje, u kterých byla stanovena prahová napětí. Pomocí řízeného modifikování povrchu bylo dosaženo magnetických core-shell částic s výbornou oxidační stabilitou za současného zachování hodnot saturační magnetizace.

Abstract:

The aim of this master thesis was to prepare composite core-shell magnetic particles with a controlled polymeric structure. A core of these composite structures was composed of car-bonyl iron (CI) and the surface was coated with polyamidoamine (PAMAM). Firstly, a suc-cessful modification of the particles with the polymer was verified and then oxidation and sedimentation stability tests, together with the evaluation of the magnetic behavior of the particles were performed. In the next step the particles were dispersed in silicone oil in order to prepare MR suspensions, whose yield stresses were estimated. Using controlled surface modification, the magnetic core-shell particles with excellent oxidation stability were prepared, in addition, the prepared magnetic particles preserved their values of saturation magnetization.
