Sexual orientation, gender development and gender-role behavior of children of same-sex parents: a systematic review

Abstract:

V rámci empirické části systematické review o sexuální orientaci, genderovém vývoji a gender-role behavior potomků homosexuálních rodičů bylo nalezeno a zhodnoceno třináct studií publikovaných mezi roky 1986 a 2014 v recenzovaných periodicích (jedna belgická, jedna nizozemská, čtyři britské a sedm ze Spojených států). 11 z nich zkoumalo potomky lesbických matek, 1 potomky gay otců a 1 potomky obou skupin. Dohromady bylo pomocí rozhovorů, testů a dotazníků zkoumáno 499 potomků homosexuálních rodičů ve věku 1-44 let a 990 potomků heterosexuálních rodičů jako kontrolní skupina. I přes metodologické nedostatky (nízká externí validita, neadekvátnost metod nebo jejich nízká validita a reliabilita či jiné porušení interní validity výzku-mu) a chybějící informace některých studií z výsledků vyplývá, že potomci homosexuálních rodičů se neliší v sexuální orientaci a gender-role behavior od potomků z tradičních rodin. Potomci lesbických rodičů jsou ale sexuálně flexibilnější a méně zasažené genderovými stereotypy. Výsledky o potomcích gay otců jsou v této oblasti nedostatečné.

Abstract:

Thirteen studies published between 1986 and 2014 in peer-reviewed journals wrote about sexual orientation, gender development and gender-role behavior of offspring of same-sex parents (one Belgian, one Dutch, four British and seven North American). Eleven of them examined offspring of lesbian mothers, one on offspring of gay fathers and one on both. The studies encompassed a total of 499 offspring of same-sex parents 1 to 44 years old and 990 offspring of heterosexual parents as a control group, who were assessed by interviews, tests or questionnaires. Even though some studies were methodologically insufficient or incomplete (low external validity, inadequate or low-reliability and low-validity methods, or other disruption of internal validity), we can say from their results that offspring of homosexual and heterosexual parents are the same in sexual ori-entation and gender-role behavior and that offspring of lesbian mothers are sexually more flexible and less affected by gender stereotypes. Results of gay fathers and their offspring are insufficient.
