Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vztahem mezi populárními písněmi ze soundtracku k filmu Forrest Gump a historii Spojených Států Amerických v rozmezí padesátých až sedmdesátých let dvacátého století. Práce bere v úvahu základní předpoklad, že zobrazení historie ve filmu Forrest Gump je pro diváka, který není zcela obeznámen s dějinami USA často nedostatečné. Kvůli tomu může chybět potřebný kontext pro pochopení událostí a doby, která je ve filmu zpracována. Cílem práce je prokázat, že tento chybějící historický kontext je doplněn právě pomocí populárních písní z filmu. To je provedeno prostřednictvím jejich funkcí, významu, okolností jejich vzniku a příběhů jejich autorů či interpretů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the relationship between popular songs from the Forrest Gump soundtrack and the history of the United States of America between the 1950s and the 1970s. The work takes into account the underlying assumption that for viewers who are not familiar with US history, the depiction of history in the film is often inadequate. Because of this, the context needed to understand the events and time that is processed in the film may be missing. This work aims to prove that this missing historical context is supplemented by popular songs from the film. The proof is done through the explanation of the songs’ functions, meaning, the circumstances of their origin and the stories of their authors or performers.
