The assessment of bond strength of reinforcing elements in timber beams

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá posouzením pevnosti držení výztužných prvků v KVH hranolech. Jako výztužný prvek byly použity skelné kompozitní pruty s průměrem 7,8 a 9,5 mm. Posuzovala se pevnost lepené spáry mezi skelným prutem a dřevem. Dále se zjišťovalo, zda záleží na šířce drážky, ve které bude prut zalepen. Nejmenší šířky drážek byly stanoveny podle průměru prutu, tedy 7,8 a 9,5 mm. Každá následující drážka byla větší než předchozí o 0,1 mm. Bylo také posuzováno, jestli při zatížení kolíku tlakem dojde k poškození lepené spáry nebo dřeva. Jako pojivo bylo použito polyuretanové lepidlo, fenol-resorcin-formaldehydová pryskyřice a epoxidová pryskyřice. Měřením bylo zjištěno, že největší pevnost a nejnižší deformaci měla lepená spára vytvořená epoxidem. To také potvrzuje poškození, které bylo vždy lokalizováno ve dřevě. Nejmenší pevnost a nejvyšší deformaci vykazovali spoje vytvořené fenol-resorcinol-formaldehydovou pryskyřicí, kde vždy došlo k poškození v lepené spáře.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the assessment of the bond strength of reinforcing elements in KVH prisms. Glass rods with a diameter of 7.8 and 9.5 mm were used as a reinforcing element. The main goal was to measure the strength of the glued joint between the glass rod and the wood. It was also assessed whether it depends on the width of the groove in which the rod will be glued. The smallest groove widths were determined according to the bar diameter 7.8 and 9.5 mm. Each subsequent groove was 0.1 mm larger than the previous one. It was observed whether the glued joint or wood would be damaged when the rod was loaded with pressure. Polyurethane adhesive, resorcinol-formaldehyde resin, and epoxy resin were used as the adhesive. Results showed that the bondline glued with the epoxy resin had the greatest strength and the lowest de-formation. Moreover, samples were always damaged in the wood. Rods bonded with resorcinol-formaldehyde resin had the lowest strength and the highest deformation and the failure was always localized in the glued joint.
