Development of Employment in the Agricultural Sector in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zaznamenává změny vývoje zaměstnanosti v sektoru zemědělství, kterou dále porovnává mezi jednotlivými kraji v České republice. Jejím hlavním cílem je vyhodnocení zmíněného vývoje s měnícím se ekonomickým prostředím. K získání informací byla využita především data z Českého statistického úřadu o počtu zaměstnaných v oblasti zemědělství, lesnictví a rybářství v České republice a Zprávy o stavu zemědělství z webových stránek Ministerstva zemědělství. Na základě těchto dat bylo zjištěno, že se počet zemědělských pracovníků snižuje od 90. let minulého století, spojených s transformačními procesy, které vedly ke změně z centrálně plánovaného hospodářství na tržní. Tempo snižování se však v posledních letech zpomaluje a stav pracovníků v zemědělských podnicích se pohybuje okolo 100 000 osob. Krajem s nejvyšším počtem osob zaměstnaných v zemědělství (včetně lesnictví a rybářství) se od vzniku ČR několikrát stal Středočeský kraj. Naopak nejmenší podíl zemědělských pracovníků se téměř v každém roce ze zkoumaných let objevoval v kraji Karlovarském.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis records changes in the development of employment in the agricultural sector and compares them between the regions of the Czech Republic. Its main objective is to evaluate the above developments with the changing economic environment. To obtain the information, data from the Czech Statistical Office on employment in the agricultural, forestry and fishing sector in the Czech Republic and on the state of agriculture from the website of the Ministry of Agriculture were used. On the basis of these data, it was found that the number of workers in agriculture has been declining since the 1990s, which is related to the transformation processes that led to the change from a centrally planned economy to a market economy. However, the rate of decline has slowed down in recent years and the number of agricultural workers is around 100 000. The region with the highest number of people employed in agriculture (including forestry and fishing) has been the Central Bohemian Region several times since the establishment of the Czech Republic. On the other hand, the Karlovy Vary Region had the lowest share of agricultural workers in almost all years under review.
