Legal Regulation of Electronic ID Cards and Travel Documents in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce se věnuje elektronickým identifikačním průkazům vydávaných státní správou v České republice. Popsány jsou občanské průkazy, elektronické pasy a elektronická povolení k pobytu. V práci jsou diskutovány aktuální možnosti těchto elektronických identifikačních dokladů a zmiňuje historické souvislosti. Důraz je věnován údajům zapisovaným/ukládaným do těchto dokladů (včetně strojově čitelné zóny a čipu) a ochraně přístupu k nim. Práce navrhuje rozšíření funkčnosti čipu elektronického občanského průkazu.

Abstract:

The submitted thesis is devoted to electronic identification documents issues by the public administration in the Czech Republic. ID cards, electronic passport and residency permits are described. The thesis discusses the current features of the above mentioned electronic identification documents. Historical context is also mentioned. The thesis focuses on data written/stored in the documents (including the machine readable zone and the chip) and the protection of the data. An extension of the functionality of the electronic ID card is proposed.
