Image of an entrepreneur at the turn of the 20th century in selected Czech social democratic press

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá obrazem podnikatele na stránkách sociálně - demokratického tisku na přelomu 19. a 20. století se zaměřením na moravský socialistický tisk. Záměrem práce je zjistit, jaký obraz podnikatele tato periodika na svých stránkách prezentovala. Nejprve je krátce zmapována problematika podnikatelstva a dělnictva za pomoci odborné literatury. Metodou obsahové a diskurzivní analýzy jsou zkoumány vybrané ročníky čtyř moravských periodik (Rovnost, Červánky, Rašple a Duch času) na jejichž základě je pak sestaven obraz podnikatele a dalších stěžejních témat, jež v tisku rezonují. Práce obsahuje taktéž obrazovou analýzu měsíčníku Rašple, která přispívá k větší hloubce pochopení dobového obrazu podnikatele a dalších nepřátel sociální demokracie.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the image of the entrepreneur on the pages of the social democratic press at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, focusing on the Moravian socialist press. The intention of the thesis is to find out what image of the entrepreneur these periodicals presented on their pages. Firstly, the issue of entrepreneurship and workers is briefly mapped out with the help of specialized literature. With use of the method of content and discursive analysis, selected editions of four Moravian periodicals (Rovnost, Červánky, Rašple, and Duch času) are examined, on the basis of which an image of the entrepreneur and other key themes resonating in the press is then constructed. The thesis also includes a pictorial analysis of the monthly magazine Rašple, which contributes to a more in-depth understanding of the contemporary image of the entrepreneur and other enemies of social democracy.
