Čína v nedávné minulosti zaznamenala obrovský ekonomický růst a stala se největší ekonomikou z hlediska HDP. Je také největší obchodní zemí ve vztahu k celkovému součtu vývozu a dovozu. Čína má značný zájem o Kambodžu díky její strategické poloze, která je z hlediska infrastruktury jednou z nejpříznivějších zemí v regionu. It is also the biggest trading country in relation to total sum of export and imports.
