Use of occupational therapy in geriatric patients

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na ergoterapii u geriatrických klientů. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části a to část teoretickou a část praktickou. Teoretická část je zaměřena na obecnou problematiku v geriatrii. V této části se zaměřuji na pojmy stárnutí a stáří, gerontologie, geriatrie, změny ve stáří, demence a věnuji se i pojmu ucelená rehabilitace. Dále je zde popsaná ergoterapie a to především ergoterapie v geriatrii a další možné postupy, které se mohou využívat u geriatrických klientů. Hlavní ? praktická část je zaměřena na kazuistiku klienta. Obsahuje anamnézu, vstupní a výstupní vyšetření, ze kterých je později stanoven krátkodobý a dlouhodobý ergoterapeutický plán. Z těchto plánů vycházíme k samostatné rehabilitaci, u níž jsme si s klientkou stanovily problémové činnosti a to zejména v oblasti ADL, paměti, fyzické aktivity a začlenění klientky do společnosti.

Abstract:

This BA thesis is focused on the occupational therapy for geriatric clients. The thesis is divided into two parts: a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part is focused on general problems in geriatrics. This section deals with the concepts of age and aging, gerontology, geriatrics, changes in old age, dementia, and it also discusses the concept of comprehensive rehabilitation. The occupational therapy and mainly the occupational therapy - in geriatrics and other possible methods that can be used when working with geriatric patients are discussed here as well. The main - practical part is focused on the client's case report. Includes patient?s history, input and output examination from which a short-term and a long-term occupational therapy plans are set. These are then used for the rehabilitation it self, for which we have, in consultation with of patient, defined the problematic activities which are particularly in the field of ADL, memory, physical activity and patient?s integration into the society.
