Prevention of the burnout syndrome among crisis helpline consultants

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje problematice prevence syndromu vyhoření u pracovníků telefonické krizové pomoci. Cílem práce je porozumění podobě nástrojů prevence syndromu vyhoření u pracovníků telefonické krizové pomoci a způsobům využívání těchto nástrojů. Teoretická část práce se zabývá syndromem vyhoření, jeho prevencí na individuální a externí úrovni, krizovou intervencí, telefonickou krizovou pomocí, pracovníky telefonické krizové pomoci a specifiky práce na lince důvěry. Metodologická část obsahuje popis kvalitativní metodologie výzkumného šetření. Empirická část zahrnuje interpretaci dat z polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s pracovníky telefonické krizové pomoci. Závěr práce obsahuje popis podoby a způsobů využití nástrojů prevence SV. Jedná se jak o individuální (uspokojení existenciální potřeby; stanovení hranic pomáhání; zmírnění stresu; zdravý životní styl; smysluplné trávení volného času; relaxace a odpočinek), tak o externí (sociální opora; vzdělávání a výcvik; supervize; úprava pracovních podmínek a pojetí odměny za práci) nástroje prevence syndromu vyhoření.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of prevention of the burnout syndrome among crisis helpline consultants. The aim of the work is to understand the tools for prevention of the burnout syndrome among crisis helpline consultants, as well as the methods of putting these tools into practice. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the burnout syndrome, its prevention on individual and external level, crisis intervention, telephone crisis support, its workers and the specifics of working as a helpline consultant. The methodological part contains a description of the qualitative research methodology. The empirical part contains an interpretation of data from semi-structured interviews with crisis helpline consultants. The conclusion contains a description of the tools for the burnout syndrome prevention, as well as the methods of their use. These include both individual (satisfaction of existential needs; setting limits of the help offered; stress alleviation; healthy lifestyle; meaningful leisure activities; relaxation and rest) and external tools (social support; education and training; supervision; adjustment of the working conditions and work appreciation).
